Learning is a happy thing. One gains knowledge, skills, broaden the horizon, to be more connected to this very world, and become a more intelligent and useful person that can make more contributions. It is through learning and this curiosity that bring improvements to our world, such as in areas of medicine, technology and other streams of science, mathematics, philosophy, geography, business etc.
Learning is more efficient when one is proactive - when one remains hungry and grabs every single chance to fulfill his/her curiosity and acquire more knowledge. Knowledge is an intangible treasure that once we gained it, it is stored in our brain, and can be extracted for use when we need it. It is crucial for us to equip ourselves day by day, because either this knowledge is needed on a daily basis, or it is needed at a unknown moment in life. The modern world is changing quickly, so we need to keep updating our database so as to keep in pace with the world.
Malcolm Knowles, the “father of adult education”, identified six elements for successful adult learning: 1) need to know, 2) foundation, 3) self-concept, 4) readiness, 5) orientation, and 6) motivation. While all 6 elements are very important, the most crucial thing is that we must have the "need to know" - our perception that we are lack of some knowledge and that we have this demand of gaining knowledge, before we can make ourselves learn. Stay hungry, stay foolish.

Business Knowledge Competition
It's my pleasure to be representing the University of Macau to join the 4th Macau University Students Business Knowledge Competition on 29 March 2015. There are two teams of UM, and my team is called 菁睿隊, meaning outstanding and wisdom. The competition is divided into preliminaries and finals, and the format of the competition includes required questions, quick response questions and the team demonstrated Show-Time. The content of the competition is all business related knowledge and news.
Starting from the Chinese New Year holiday, my teammates and I have been revising different business related materials (e.g. economics, accounting, finance, marketing, finance, business law) and news of Macau, China and major economies around the globe. We study and discuss different issues together; we stayed up late and worked hard absorb as much knowledge as possible. The preparation process is very demanding, but we really enjoy the time to study together and we cultivate a deep friendship within our group. On the day of competition, we did not break, but we have learnt many lessons, and this is a indeed a very good experience for us.
